Brooks' daughter, Carrie, shared that the family, including herself as a teenager, contributed to the construction. They cut each shingle to cover the space between the windows, a meticulous process that took many after-school and weekend hours. The use of amber-colored plexiglass, inspired by an exhibit in Montreal, added a unique reflective quality to the home.
